What did you do today that was productive?
Work was productive. The Flaming Lips concert was tonight; that was productive for my soul.
What did you do today that you valued?
Flaming Lips Concert! This was the second time I saw The Flaming Lips. After the first time I saw them I decided I would never miss another local show. The theatrics is unbelievable and well worth going to a show for, even if you are unfamiliar with the music.
Did you learn anything today?
At the bar before the show I ended up talking with a scientist named Willy who does sleep research at the University of Michigan. I was intrigued because I have changed my sleeping habits since starting this project. I recognized the inconsistencies in my sleep pattern and decided that trying to sleep a consistent amount of time each night might be beneficial. I mentioned this project to Willy and told him about how I changed my sleeping habits based on my findings and he seemed quite impressed. It turns out I was correct. Willy confirmed that a consistent sleep pattern is one of the best things you can do for yourself. He gave a scientific term to the concept that I will never remember, but I get the point anyway...
Any other thoughts?
I had an extra ticket for the concert that I posted on craigslist earlier in the day. I sold the ticket but still received a few queries before the concert started. One particular person texted me asking if it was still available. After telling him "I apologize but the ticket is already sold", I expected the conversation to end there, however, he continued texting me about other aspects of the show which I thought was odd...
I also met a girl in her mid twenties who was very intriguing. She had tattoos of bugs and mounted deer heads on her arms and legs. It turns out she was a dropout law student who pursued her passion as a taxidermist. She said she couldn't be happier doing anything else so I applaud her for that. I respect people who follow their dreams, especially when they are obscure and out of the ordinary.
